How to use search
Enter a single word in the box and hit search. Your results will be displayed immediately. Some hits will have associated index terms, displayed in blue. Use these to alter the focus of your search.
For more precise results select which area of the website you wish to search by choosing from the drop down box eg search Penwith Papers.
For further precision try a multi-word search eg Penzance train Brunel. With multi-word searches you need to pay attention to the kind of search you are running, you have a choice of Exact Word Match, Partial Word Match or Exact Phrase.
Exact Word Match - each word is searched for exactly as it is entered, so train will not find trains.
Partial Word Match – matching strings within words will also be returned, this search will find train within the word trains but it will also find cape within escape.
Exact Phrase Match – will treat multiple search words as a phrase exactly as they are entered, so this will find St Just precisely, instead of giving you hits that contain St and Just.
You can also define how many hits you want to show per page.
