April News
Many members met in The Morrab Library, Penzance, on a beautiful sunny day in April to discuss plans for their next publication. Following on from Treasures of the Morrab in 2005 they have dived into The Morrab Library's archives for more fascinating documents. One of the most intriguing was the Pig Book where contributors were blindfolded before drawing a pig and then asked to sign their name. It contains the autographs of many famous people including Captain Robert Falcon Scott of the Antarctic and W. G. Grace the famous English cricketer.
This was preceded by a talk by Linda Camidge about ‘The Immortal Legend’ and who was the first to hear of Nelson's death. Using newspaper accounts she demonstrated how the story changed as time progressed.
Most previous publications are sold out but those still available are now £10. They include Growing Up in West Cornwall, Women of West Cornwall, Eighteenth Century Life in West Cornwall, West Cornwall in the Twentieth Century and a reprint of the popular Three Hundred Years on Penwith Farms.
