2026 January News
Lively discussions took place about the future and two main ideas emerged. It was agreed that the group would write shorter pieces to be posted under Penwith Papers on this website. One member had a piece about experimental archaeology with old ovens nearly ready. Also popular was to explore the archives of The Morrab Library and to learn more about the photographic archive.
Members were greatly saddened at the sudden death of Toni Carver and remembered all the help he and his staff had given in printing their books. The demise of the St Ives Times and Echo newspaper and the passing of much local reporting was regretted. The newspapers of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries are invaluable - will future historians have an equivalent from our own time?
The officers were re-elected and thanked. The secretary mapped out future meetings and events.
The treasurer gave a satisfactory report.
The Morrab Library Spring Fair will be on Saturday March 21st and it was agreed to take a table.
