This month’s meeting began with much discussion about updating the website. Ideas included putting out-of-print books on line and a possible index of the subjects in them. Members’ current work was next with another Penwith Paper to appear soon.
The British Association for Local History published a pleasing review of our latest book, Beyond the Bookshelves, on line in August 2026. You can read it on line, with other reviews, at

It is hoped to visit The Old Market House in the centre of St Ives which is now the home of the St Ives Archive. The market house was built in 1832 as the old Guildhall and still houses the judge’s chair and prisoner cells. Now sensitively restored it houses the St Ives Archive.
You can go back to the home page and click on Penwith Papers for the latest Paper about the changing of wild flowers in Cornish hedges. The vibrant orange monbretia first appeared in 1907 and wild fuschia as far back as 1857.
